The Board of Trustees is responsible for carrying out the government's mandate for schooling as defined in the School Act, including provision for meeting local needs and interests. The board believes that its governance role is best served through direction-setting (policies and district priorities), and monitoring and evaluating outcomes. The board is committed to the involvement of students, staff, parents, and business and community members in determining district direction and for providing feedback on district programs.
The district's administration is charged with the responsibility of carrying out the board's policies and priorities and, accordingly, is given authority to develop and implement plans and processes. The board expects the administration to involve stakeholders, promote effective district-wide communication, and keep the board informed of the consequences of its policies and priorities.
The district's Combined Three Year Education Plan and Annual Education Results Report, along with district school and site plans, outlines the goals, results, strategies and performance measures for attaining the district's mandate, mission, vision and priorities. It is also an accountability document, informing of progress made toward the three year goals and showing the outcomes achieved annually.
