The Board is committed to building and enhancing collaborative relationships and partnerships with First Nations, Métis and Inuit parents/guardians, grandparents and other family members, Elders, Knowledge Keepers and community members.

  1. The Board supports division and school initiatives that intentionally strengthen understanding, respect and recognition of historical and contemporary First Nations, Métis and Inuit knowledge, perspectives, contributions, cultural beliefs, traditions, languages and values.
  2. The Board supports the following areas as key components in a holistic approach to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit education:
    1. Welcoming, caring, safe and respectful learning environments 
    2. Respectful and inclusive curricular projects and initiatives 
    3. Culturally responsive pedagogy and assessment
    4. Valuing First Nations, Métis and Inuit expertise 
    5. Promotion of First Nations, Métis and Inuit languages
    6. Fostering commitment to First Nations, Métis and Inuit education for all learners 
    7. Research.
