Things to know before completing a new student registration form

A New Student Registration Form is completed for someone who is not currently enrolled in a St. Albert Public School.
- Before starting a registration form, know which is your neighbourhood school, and which program you wish your child to attend.
- The registration form is to be completed by the student’s parent/legal guardian. According to the Education Act, a parent is the guardian as set out in Section 20 of the Family Law Act. An appointed guardian is defined under Part 1, Division 5 of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act or Section 23 of the Family Law Act.
- Along with the registration form, documents are required to prove the student’s legal name, date of birth and Canadian citizenship status. Documents to prove name, age and citizenship may include:
- Canadian Citizens:
- Canadian Passport
- Canadian Birth Certificate
- Non-Canadian Citizens:
- Permanent resident card
- Valid temporary resident papers (may be required for both students and parents)
- Valid immigration papers (may be required for both students and parents)
- All required forms must be submitted and your chosen school must confirm acceptance before your student’s registration is complete.
- Once a registration form is submitted, you must contact the school to make changes to your information.
Kindergarten
- To register for Kindergarten, children must be five on or before the last day of December of the year in which they which to register.
Which school will my child attend?
- Students usually attend their neighbourhood schools. Click here to determine which school is in your neighbourhood.
- Because of inclusive education needs or alternative program options, it is sometimes necessary to send a child to another school for program purposes.
- Students may be permitted to enroll in other schools if space is available. Yellow bus service, however, would not be guaranteed to children attending a school other than their designated neighbourhood school.

St. Albert Public schools offers an International Student Program to students who reside in a foreign country and are looking to engage in academic studies in the English language.
