Academic Challenge Program
Academic challenge classes in St. Albert Public Schools are intended for gifted students. To be eligible for an academic challenge class, a student must have an intelligence quotient of 130, as measured on an intelligence test administered by a psychologist. Behaviour Improvement Program
Behaviour improvement classes are designed for students who demonstrate behaviour which is chronic and pervasive in a school setting and who require a significantly modified staffing ratio. Students receive specialized curriculum as well as instruction and support in self-regulation.
GOALS (Gaining Occupational and Life Skills) Program
The GOALS Program serves students who develop at a slower rate cognitively, physically and/or socially when compared to their peer group. Instruction is individualized and in small groups.
This program is offered at Bellerose Composite High School.
Knowledge and Employability Program
The Knowledge and Employability Program is designed for students having difficulty with the regular program. The program is directed toward improving students' competencies in communication, computation and social relationships. The employability courses help prepare students for direct entry into employment. Students are able to cross over into regular programs.
Learning Assistance Program
The Learning Assistance Program accommodates the needs of elementary and junior high school students who have average cognitive abilities but significant delays in their achievement. This program provides smaller group settings with individualized programming.
